A list of who will be the MVP of Super Bowl XLVIII. With the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks battling over the right to take home the Vince Lombardi trophy, there is no shortage of players who are candidates to be named the MVP of the big game.
Many of the NFL's best players are playing in the 2014 Super Bowl, but there are several factors that will contribute to who will the MVP. First and probably most important, the weather. Being that the Super Bowl is in New Jersey, the game may not be played under the most optimal conditions. That would give kickers Matt Prater and Steven Hauschka good chances of winning, assuming they're able to boot the ball and connect on their field goals. The same goes for the team's running backs. If the weather is poor, then expect to see a heavy dose of Marshawn Lynch, Knowshon Moreno and Montee Ball. If Peyton Manning and the high-powered Denver offense gets going, then no one should be in the least bit surprised if Manning takes home MVP honors. Then again, if Richard Sherman and company are able to shut down Denver's high powered offense, then he could be the game's Most Valuable Player.
We haven't even begun to touch on the impact that the many X-factors in the game may have. That different category includes stars like Russell Wilson and the rest of the unheralded Seattle passing corps, and the Broncos underrated pass rush.
No matter how you cut it, the MVP of Super Bowl XLVIII will go to a deserving player. Who that is will be decided on February 2. But until then, it will be fun to speculate what player will help bring home the Lombardi trophy, and speed off in the brand new car that's traditionally awarded to the Super Bowl MVP.
