This list of celebrities who survived cancer is ranked by fame and popularity. Cancer is the term for a class of diseases in which tumors develop in an individual's body. Several famous actors, actresses, musicians, and athletes have battled cancer and survived. One famous comedian even documented his treatment for a television special.
Hugh Jackman is one of, sadly, many celebrities who have had cancer. Jackman underwent two surgeries to remove skin cancer from his nose and the X-Men actor thinks that he will need many more. He says, "I'm realistic about the future and it's more than likely that I'll have at least one more but probably many more, which is not uncommon for an Aussie particularly from English stock growing up in Australia where I don't remember ever being told to put sunscreen on."
Wanda Sykes is a breast cancer survivor. She told Ellen DeGeneres that she was hesitant to announce that she had cancer. "I was like I don't know, should I talk about it or what. How many things could I have? I'm black, then lesbian. I can't be the poster child for everything," Sykes said.
