Who were the biggest breakthrough celebrities of 2013? The year brought a ton of fresh faces to the celebrity scene. This list includes great breakout artists in movies, television and in the music industry. Be sure to vote up the celebs that you feel made the biggest impact on pop culture in 2013, and vote down any that you don't think deserve a place of honor on this list. Also, if your favorite breakthrough celeb of 2013 is missing, add them by all means.
In terms of great breakthrough actors of 2013, the choices are excellent. Actress Lupita Nyong'o blew everyone away with her gut-wrenching performance in one of the year's best films, '12 Years a Slave.' The same can be said for Michael B. Jordan, who gave a monster performance in another critically acclaimed film, 'Fruitvale Station.' And yes, Henry Cavill certainly swooped in and got everyone's attention with his portrayal of Superman in the 2013 blockbuster movie 'Man of Steel.'
Music-wise, some of the biggest breakthrough artists of 2013 include Ariana Grande, Robin Thicke (sure, he was famous over the pond but "Blurred Lines" put him on the map in the U.S.), Pharrell Williams, Lorde, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and of course, Ylvis, for giving us "The Fox (What Does the Fox Say)."
Television also saw it's fair share of new talent, including the new ladies of 'Saturday Night Live,' Cecily Strong and Kate McKinnon. Taylor Schilling and Uzo Aduba are just two of the wonderful breakout stars from the hugely popular Netflix original series 'Orange is the New Black,' and Tatiana Maslany's celebrity soared thanks to her mind blowingly great work in 'Orphan Black.'
