First of all: musicians ARE artists in their own right, but this list seeks to determine which musicians would make the best artists. In addition to the better known musicians turned artists like Marilyn Manson and John Lennon, there are musicians who went to art school (David Bowie, Kim Gordon), gallery owners (Ronnie Wood, Joseph Arthur), and those who simply paint as a hobby (John Mellencamp).
Ranker asked a group of musicians and artists to give their input on this particular question at the Rock Against MS Benefit at Village Studios in Los Angeles in October 2014. The event - featuring collaborative art by Billy Idol guitarist Billy Morrison and artist Joey Feldman - welcomed the likes of Ozzy & Sharon Osbourne, Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath, reality star Gretchen Bonaduce, Dave Navarro, The Sex Pistols's Steve Jones, and more to raise money to fund MS research in search of a cure.
