Casting Call for Cyclops

One of the most prominent X-Men members is Cyclops (a.k.a. Scott Summers). James Marsden portrayed the character in a number of the X-Men films, but with the X-Men: Apocalypse film in development, we are going to see some of our favorite X-Men characters return, including Cyclops, though they'll be much younger than what we’re familiar with. So, it’s time to recast the role of Cyclops with some fantasy casting, since James Marsden hasn’t figured out a way to turn back time… yet.

In X-Men: Days of Future Past, they were able to rewrite past mistakes in the franchise (and clear up continuity in the Wolverine spinoffs) while shaping a new narrative for the future. Now, beloved characters and actors from the first trilogy still live on, but we also have the rare opportunity to recast new, younger versions of these characters and have it all be canon, with the next X-Men film (X-Men: Apocalypse) taking place in the 1980s.

Who doesn't want to see Cyclops get a do-over? He barely had any screen time in the original trilogy, and he's the leader of the team! We need him to be commanding, confident, and a born leader. He needs to be naive and always striving to do what's right, but with a sense of humor. He has to be a brilliant tactician and physically capable of keeping up with Wolverine. There's a reason Jean Grey chose him over Logan, let's finally see it on screen! He's an incredible character and we're so excited to see him again.

Don't get us wrong, we'd love to see James Marsden back as Cyclops, if they handled the character right, and hopefully we will (X-Men 4, anyone?). In the meantime, we've selected the actors we think could take over the role of Cyclops. X-Men fans, vote up the fantasy casting choices you'd like to see on the big screen.

http://www.ranker.com/list/casting-call-for-cyclops/ranker-comics,

Garrett Hedlund
He's played every type of hero except a comic book superhero and we think it's well overdue. He's got the swagger, the look, and the leadership qualities to pull of the right kind of Cyclops on the screen.
Logan Lerman
Since they are shooting for a young, origin story Scott, we think Logan Lerman would handle the mutant leading duties well. Check him out in Fury and say he wouldn't make a great Cyclops.
Robbie Amell
The jawline, the intensity, the build... Amell looks like a comic book superhero. No wonder he keeps getting cast in superhero roles. After The Tomorrow People and playing Firestorm on Arrow, we think he's due for the big screen as Cyclops.
Scott Porter
We've used Scott Porter before in fancasts but out of any of them, Porter was born to play Scott Summers! He even voices the character in the X-Men: Anime.
Charlie Rowe
Another rumored front-runner for the role Rowe has been killing it on Red Band Society.
Dylan Sprayberry
He's the right age, look, and possesses a fan base to really make a young, still in training Cyclops work on the big screen.
Dylan O'Brien
His star-making turn in The Maze Runner proved he can play a leader like nobody's business. That, being the perfect age, and looking quite a bit like James Marsden make him a perfect choice for a young Scott Summers.
Luke Bracey
The talented young actor played a young James Marsden in The Best of Me. What better way to prep to play... a young James Marsden. Bracey also has the original Cyclops's seal of approval to play him in X-Men: Days of Future Past (which didn't happen), with Marsden saying he'd be great for it.
Tim Pocok
He played a very young Scott Summers in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and though we don't speak of the film, he'd still make for a great Scott in X-Men: Apocalypse. Just look at that crazy comic book jawline!
Timothee Chalamet
Chalamet is rumored to be one of Fox's favorites for the role. Even though he's young, he's certainly proven himself as an actor on Homeland, Royal Pains, and in Interstellar.
