The Green Lantern Corps is enormous. It's 7,200 characters strong for the 3,600 different sectors of the universe, all worthy of wielding a Green Lantern ring, giving them immense power. Wow. There used to be just one Green Lantern ring wielder protecting each sector... but now it's two, for our protection and so they can team up (and also sell more comics). But who is the best Green Lantern?
With that many characters in one title, or even a series of titles, it's hard to keep track. Some are cooler than others, some pop up in one issue then fall by the wayside. Others become so iconic and readers become so attached that even death, going insane, and murdering countless victims can't keep them from coming back as a good guy (we're looking at you, Hal Jordan).
We all know the core six, the main Earth Sector Green Lanterns: Alan Scott, Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, John Stewart, Kyle Rayner, and Simon Baz. But what about Abin-Sur? And there are so many others, some of which can even go up against the likes of Superman himself!
This list doesn't include all Green Lanterns, as that would be crazy. Since there are so many to choose from, we've selected our top 50 to make up this list of Green Lantern ring wielders. Make sure to vote up all your favorites to determine who is the greatest Green Lantern of all time. Maybe DC Comics will come across this list of Green Lanterns and decide which character should be the next Green Lantern in their planned rebooted film. Maybe they'll stay away from Hal this time since Ryan Reynolds left a bad taste in fans' mouths.
And no, just putting on a Green Lantern shirt doesn't mean you earn a spot on this list.
